Problem with squirrels?
We are here to help
The Grey squirrel originally came from North America but is now widespread in deciduous woodlands of the British Isles, outnumbering the, now, less common native Red Squirrel. The Grey squirrel kills trees by stripping bark for food, with its main diet being nuts, acorns, a wide range of bulbs, root, some insects, eggs and even small birds. The Red squirrel feeds mainly on nuts and seeds but also eats young tree shoots.
Both the Red and Grey squirrels do not hibernate but do sleep for long periods during the winter.
Grey squirrels invade loft spaces quite often causing major damage to electrical wiring, shredding fibreglass insulation and have been known to drown in cold water tanks. They will steal bird eggs and cause damage in forest, woodland areas and parks.
